The Connected Degree 2+2 Curriculum
Delaware Tech's associate degree program in Human Services provides students with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge of theories in counseling psychology and human development that are required to serve individuals and groups experiencing needs related to poverty, abuse, neglect, mental illness, disability, crime, unemployment, illness, discrimination, divorce, aging, and family dysfunction. Graduates play a vital role in linking people with services such as education, training, financial assistance, child care, shelter, addictions treatment, mental health services and senior services and have the educational foundation to successfully gain entry level human services positions in the private and public sectors. Delaware State University's Bachelor of Science in Psychology Program offers research and practical experiences to train students to become scholar-practitioners. More specifically, Delaware State University's Psychology Program is designed to empower and affirm undergraduate students through broad based training in various foundations of psychology, which emphasizes the need to understand human behavior through critical thinking and scientific endeavors. Many graduates go into community-oriented practice as social workers, family counselors, or specialists in substance abuse and crisis intervention. Others go into research, building upon the abilities they developed at Delaware State.
